A View into the Future after the May 19th Election

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Christine and I can't thank you enough for your generous support! With your help, the voters of Glendale have placed their trust in me to serve another four years on our Board of Education.

We continue to face the ever-challenging economic crisis that has devastated our state and nation. The inadequate funding from the state continues to negatively impact the California public education system. Our state ranks 47th out of 50 states in properly funding public education.  We are $2,000 below the national average per student. For example, Glendale Unified School District (GUSD) was receiving approximately $5,800 per student two years ago and today receives approximately $4,900.  That is a loss of $900 per student.

The fact that the state of California hasn’t used prudent solutions implies to me that we are going to continue to see budget gaps in the coming years. We are not out of the woods yet and what options that are available for us to protect our children’s education while maintaining the solvency and financial sustainability for our District.

We could not have done it without you. Thank's to you, we received more votes than any other candidate.  The Victory Belongs To You!   Let's work together to make the next four years the best ever for our kids and their teachers.

Once again, from the bottom of our hearts we thank you for your confidence in our campaign.  I am deeply humbled by you standing shoulder to shoulder with us during a very difficult race.  I'm truly blessed to have friends like you, and your friendship has made me a better and stronger person.

I look forward to the road ahead and I am committed to continue the fight for our families and schools.

Warmest Regards,

Greg Krikorian
Member, Board of Education
